The Open Eye Theater, a not-for-profit company in Margaretville, NY, seeks a dozen ten-minute plays for its upcoming Summer Shortcuts III.  Plays selected will be fully produced, directed, and performed by experienced artists.  Comedy, drama, mystery, historical, musical, spoof, and more are welcome.  Plays may be brand new, previously produced elsewhere, or published.  Playwrights living in New York State are especially encouraged, but all are welcome to submit.  Casts may include actors of any age.  Production values and sets should be simple.  Performance dates are August 8-18.  Submit Word or PDF document by e-mail to openeye@catskill.net before June 30.  Please put "Ten-Minute Play" in the Subject Line.

The Open Eye Theater is a not-for-profit professional company with a strong educational component.  Casting is multi-generational and multi-cultural.  It was founded in New York City by Jean Erdman and Joseph Campbell in 1972, and has been based in the Catskill Mountains since 1994.  Programs include the development and production of new plays and classics, workshops, and an educational partnership with Margaretville Central School.  In 2004, The Open Eye began renovations on the former tool and die manufacturing building at 960 Main Street, and has been producing plays in the transformed facility since 2007.  Following the devastating flood of August 28, 2011, the theater underwent another complete renovation and reopened in May 2012.
