A couple of Walton town board members are still against it, but it looks like Rally New York will zoom through Walton roads again this year. From the Daily Star:
Walton Supervisor Bruce Dolph and council members Cheryl Boyd and Luis Rodriguez-Bentancourt voted in favor of holding the rally, and council members Kevin Armstrong and Leonard Govern voted against inviting the race...
...Rally New York promoter Ivan Orisek was then asked to choose the roads that he wanted included in the rally stages. Orisek included 5.3 miles on Houck Mountain Road between Beers Brook Road and the Walton town line; 4.3 miles on South River Road, from the Delaware County Fairgrounds to state Route 10; and 5.9 miles on East River and Colchester Mountain roads.
The auto road rally, which is held on 100 miles of roads in Sullivan and Delaware County, will be based in Walton, and participants will be staying in town during the fourth week of March. Rally New York promoter Ivan Orisek told the Watershed Post that the date of the rally has already been moved back -- from its originally-planned date in early April to March 25th and 26th -- because of the concerns of the Walton town board.
"The town board was concerned about the start of the trout fishing season and didn't want the two events to conflict with each other," he said.
