By order of James Eisel, Chair of the Delaware County Board of Supervisors,
all Delaware County offices, buildings and courts are closed however there is
not a countywide state of emergency in effect.
The Town and Village of Sidney have declared a state of emergency. All roads
in the Town are closed. A shelter was opened at the St. Lukes Church located
at 139 West Main Street and a second shelter was opened at the Sidney Middle
School. The river in this area is expected to crest at major flood stage by mid-
afternoon today.
The Town of Deposit has declared a State of Emergency. All roads in the Town
are closed at this time. They are experiencing flash flooding and are currently
working on notifications for possible evacuations in the low lying areas. The
Village of Deposit is also doing notifications to residents that may need to
evacuate, however the Village is not under a State of Emergency at this time.
The Town of Village of Walton have declared a State of Emergency. Walton
Village has begun evacuation notifications on several village streets. A shelter
has been opened at the United Presbyterian Church at the corner of North and
East Street in the Village. Some streets in the village have water on them at
this time. The FD and NYSEG have been doing door to door notifications and
all utility services will be shut off in the affected areas.
The Town of Middletown, Village of Margaretville, and Village of Fleischmanns
also remain under states of emergency with local curfews from 5:00 p.m. to
7:00 a.m.
Most Delaware County schools were closed today as was the BOCES campus in
Masonville.
A boil water advisory remains in effect for the residents in Downsville. There is
a suspected leak in their water system that hasn’t been found. The storage tank
levels remain very low. The boil water advisory will remain in effect until the
leak is found, repaired and water testing is completed.
The East Branch of the Delaware River has fallen below flood stage at
Margaretville. It is expected to crest at Harvard at 9am today at 15.8 feet
which is at major flood stage.
