Flood watch in effect for Ulster, Greene, Schoharie counties

As of 8 A.M., and continuing through tomorrow evening, a flood watch is in effect over eastern New York and western New England. A warning message from NY-Alert says that locally, Ulster, Greene and Schoharie counties should watch out for heavy rainfall and overflowing creeks tonight and tomorrow:

Showers Will Overspread The Area With Moderate To Heavy Rainfall Expected...With Occasional Showers Expected To Continue Across The Watch Area Into Wednesday Night. Rainfall Amounts Of 2 To 3 Inches Are Expected With Higher Amounts Of 4 To 5 Inches Possible In Areas Where Storms Repeatedly Move Over The Same Areas And/Or Where Thunderstorms Occur. This Amount Of Rainfall Could Cause The Flooding Of Small Streams And Creeks...As Well As Flood Prone Urban Areas.

We'll keep an eye on local hydrographs and post updates if we see any flooding out there. Readers: If you see flooding in the region today, let us know! Leave a comment on this post, comment on our Facebook wall, or send updates and photos to editor@watershedpost.com.
