This just in from the New York City Department of Environmental Protection: NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg announced the appointment of a new DEP commissioner today.
New DEP head Carter Strickland was promoted from within; before today's appointment, he was the DEP's deputy commissioner for sustainability. Strickland replaces departing commissioner Cas Holloway, who is leaving the agency to take over as Bloomberg's deputy mayor.
