The little Shandaken hamlet just can't catch a break. The Daily Freeman reports that a log home on Wittenberg Road in Phoenicia was the scene of a three-alarm fire this morning:
Phoenicia Fire Chief Gary Carr Jr. said the 911 call for a fully involved structure fire at 1350 Wittenberg Road came at 11 a.m. and he did not clear the scene until 6:18 p.m. The cause has been ruled accidental, he said, but the investigation is continuing.
Carr said the log home, owned by Bill Lundberg, was still standing, with close to 50 percent fire damage, along with smoke and water damage. He said the home is a full-time residence, but no one was at home when the fire broke out.
