We heard this morning from the Onteora Central School District that school will be opening as usual on Wednesday. Here's the press release that was sent out today:
As of 10:00 am this morning Phoenicia Elementary has power. All Onteora Schools will open on time and as usual on Wednesday, September 7, 2011.
From a press release sent out earlier this week:
-We are concerned that we don’t know who is displaced. If families are homeless, we need to know so we can transport those children to school on Wednesday and give them two hot meals.
-If students can not get to their usual bus stop, they should get on ANY bus heading to Onteora schools. All buses will pick up any children that need transportation. Bus Routes will be open, including the routes in Oliverea.
-Please be aware that some bus routes have changed. There are red books at each school and at Central Administration that give all students’ bus routes.
-Please be patient on Wednesday. The bus drivers will be doing a manifest of all children, so we can try to target those children who do not come to school and may be homeless
-Any donations of clothing, towels, or shower supplies may be brought to each school building.
-Onteora Middle School/High School students can shower at the school Wednesday afternoon 3pm - 4pm. Shower supplies will be available.
