Wild storm whips through Catskills in the wee hours

If you were awake around 4am this morning, you probably heard a mighty roar of wind. Reports are trickling in of some serious storm activity across the Catskills last night. NY-Alert reports that there was hail and downed trees in Ulster County this morning:

A TRAINED WEATHER SPOTTER REPORTED A TREE AND LIMBS DOWN...ALONG WITH PEA SIZE HAIL IN WILLOW AT 436 AM.

The National Weather Service's Albany office has issued a storm report that shows damage and downed trees in Ulster, Columbia and Dutchess Counties:

ALSO PEA SIZE HAIL REPORTED. 0508 AM TSTM WND DMG CLAVERACK 42.22N 73.72W 11/17/2010 COLUMBIA NY TRAINED SPOTTER POWERLINES AND TREES DOWN AROUND INTERSECTION OF RTE 9H AND RTE 23. 0513 AM TSTM WND DMG GHENT 42.33N 73.62W 11/17/2010 COLUMBIA NY TRAINED SPOTTER MULTIPLE PINE TREES DOWN. STRUCTURAL DAMAGE TO PRIVATE RESIDENCE.
