NY-Alert reported last night that a serious accident occurred yesterday around 6pm on Rte. 55A in Wawarsing at Lackawack Hill Road.
Today, the Daily Freeman and the Times Herald-Record have the details: Stephen E. Roth was thrown into a guardrail after running into a deer on his motorcycle on that road yesterday. He died instantly. From the THR:
Sgt. Al Shamah of the New York State police said he doesn’t believe that speed was a factor and Roth was wearing a helmet. The deer entered the roadway from the right shoulder. “I think the primary cause the accident was the deer.”
