This week, the Daily Freeman caught up with the still-in-the-works Crossroads Resort development and its backer, Dean Gitter, who told the paper that rumors of the project's demise have been greatly exaggerated:
“It has been a while since we communicated Crossroads’ progress to the community; and, in the absence of hard news, the inevitable rumors of our abandonment of the project and the Belleayre Resort’s demise have circulated,” they said.
The article describes some recent changes to the development's design, including making it smaller and the addition of some "green roofs made of vegetation." It also reports a new timeline for the development -- the local planning boards of Shandaken and Middletown will see a finished proposal by the "middle of next year."
A day after the Freeman article ran, the angry All That is Wrong With Shandaken blog produced its own version of the article. A hint as to the tone of the rehash: The Crossroads resort is given a new name -- "Crosseyes."
