ATV flips, kills 68-year-old driver in Meredith

The Delaware County Sheriff's Office reports that Nicolo Ciancio, a 68-year-old man, died in the town of Meredith on Saturday in an ATV accident. Ciancio was driving northeast along Catskill Turnpike Road around 1pm when his ATV flipped off the road and into a wooden fence. There is no mention in the press release whether Ciancio was wearing a helmet.

On September 25, 2010, Delaware County Deputies investigated a fatal motor vehicle accident which occurred on Catskill Turnpike Road, in the Town of Meredith.

At approximately 1:00 PM, 68 year old Nicolo Ciancio was riding a four wheeler All Terrain Vehicle in a Northeasterly direction on Catskill Turnpike Road, when he lost control of the ATV. The ATV rolled over, then left the roadway and struck a wooden fence. Ciancio sustained multiple injuries in the crash. He was transported by ambulance to O’Connor Hospital in Delhi, and subsequently transported by helicopter to Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, where he later died from his injuries.
