13-year-old arrested for setting Hancock fire

This just in from the Delaware County Sheriff's Office: An unnamed 13-year-old who once lived in East Branch was arrested this morning and charged with setting a fire at a summer house on White Birch Lane in Hancock in July. Law enforcement is accusing the teen of breaking into the house and burning it down. The press release in full, below: 

Following an investigation by Delaware County Sheriff's Investigators and Delaware County Emergency Services Fire Investigators, on Friday morning Delaware County Sheriff's Investigators arrested and charged a 13 year old former East Branch resident in connection with a July 8th structure fire at a seasonal residence located on White Birch Lane in the Town of Hancock.

The youth was charged with the felony crimes of Arson in the Third Degree, Burglary in the Second Degree and Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree and issued a Juvenile Appearance Ticket returnable before the Delaware County Probation Department.

It is alleged that the juvenile forcibly entered a seasonal residence on July 8, 2010 and intentionally started a fire which totally destroyed the structure.
