Mountainside Residential Care Center Earns Top Quintile Ranking

February 18, 2014 – HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley’s® Mountainside Residential Care Center was ranked in the top quintile of the New York State Nursing Home Quality Pool (NHQP) for 2013.

The NHQP is a $50 million pool, funded by contributions from eligible nursing homes. The funds are redistributed to the nursing homes based on performance evaluation. The top quintile, the highest performing facilities consisting of 113 nursing homes including Mountainside, will receive approximately half of the pool assets. Approximately 600 nursing homes were evaluated in the NHQP ranking.

"It's not easy to create the culture of quality that we have at Mountainside and harder still to maintain it,” said Philip Mehl, administrator at Mountainside. “The team we have assembled is the most compassionate and dedicated that I have seen. I am honored to work among them."

Rankings were based out of 100 points and determined by three measurement components – one efficiency measure, three compliance measures and 14 quality measures. Payment to nursing home facilities has not yet been distributed and is pending approval from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
