Celebrate our new Walking Trails with a Picnic Lunch

Hi,
A long July 4th weekend!  Come on over on Saturday and Sunday, July 6 & 7, for a special Picnic Lunch, and to enjoy our new self-guided marked walking trails. Remember to wear a hat, walking shoes (that might get dirty) and bring water, if you are walking the trails.

LUNCH
Lunch both days will be a buffet with a choice of pulled pork sandwich or roasted veggie panini with cole slaw, baked beans, zucchini fritters, cold cucumber dill soup, tossed green salad. $18 adult. Children 12 and under are half price. Beverages and dessert, a red, white and blue ice cream sandwich, are additional.

THE TRAILS
There are two marked trails, if you choose to enjoy them. The Pasture Walk is an easy walk, partly along the road and mostly through the pastures to see the animals.  The Ridge Trail goes up through the woods and fields to the top of our mountain, where you'll find a picnic table with the best views around! Then the trail goes along behind the animal pastures to the old cemetery, and back.  Each trail takes less than an hour and has written interpretative information. You can just walk the trails or we can pack your lunch to bring to the picnic table at the top of the world!  Or just dally at the table and admire the mountains.  Binoculars provided!

We want reservations!
We need to know how many people are coming!  Please call or e-mail with your reservation by Thursday, July 4th, and whether you want your sandwich packed to go to the top of the mountain!  We recommend you enjoy the soup and dessert here at the cafe.

A fun thing to do this long weekend!  We really need a head count to know how much food to prepare, so let us know if you plan to come.

Also this weekend:
It's CSA pickup!  If you have a chicken or meat subscription box, it will be ready for you to pickup this weekend.

Jane's Greens
Jane's organically grown perennial potted plants, and goodies from her garden will be available.

Garlic Scapes and Fresh Chicken
Our beautiful fresh chicken, processed right here, will fill the cooler. Bags of garlic scapes, from Cook Family Farm, are available.  Mmmm, garlic scape pesto!  And we might have a load of mushrooms, too!

Farmers Markets
Find us at the Lexington Farmers Market, Friday, July 5th from 5 to 7, and the Saugerties Farmers Market every Saturday, 10-2.

Coming up!
July 13 and 14: Fresh Beef!  All cuts available!  Let us know if we can cut and reserve a special item for you.  There is also one side still available, if you want to fill your freezer.

July 20 and 21: Fresh Brook Trout!  You must reserve your trout for pickup.  They average 1 to 1-1/4 pounds, will be processed on Friday at SUNY Cobleskill.  $9/lb.  Also available at the Saugerties Market by reservation, as well.

Guided Farm Tours
You can enjoy the self-guided marked trails on weekends, or take a scheduled guided tour starting soon in July. Watch our calendar on the website as well as future e-mails for the schedule.

I bought this farm in 1990 from the Hulbert family, who ran it as a horse-powered dairy farm.  I had lived next door to them since 1979, part-time farming on my little homestead. Part of the Hulbert family had a reunion a couple weeks ago, and decided to drive by and see how the old place was doing.  I was thrilled to see them, and they were thrilled to see their farm and home so full of life!   Here's Ken Hulbert, who grew up in this house, his kids and grandkids.
