Story Laurie Summer Tour Kicks off Thursday 6/27 in Oxford, NY. Full Schedule Here!

STORY LAURIE BRINGS SONGS, SEEDS & GARDEN LORE TO LIBRARIES ACROSS NEW YORK STATE!

Kids “Dig Into Reading” and Groove In The Garden

With Renowned Performer and Gardening Advocate

Like a modern day Johnny Appleseed, Story Laurie is traveling around, bringing tall tales, tunes, a tent, free seed packets, garden lore and more to towns across New York State.  (schedule below) This renowned performer is easy to spot, pulling up to the library with her guitar, props, seeds, and a cooler for local berries. After a Story Laurie appearance, kids not only dig into reading, they understand how folks grow food, and how they can do it themselves.

For two decades, Story Laurie has engaged audiences with folklore and song, captivating all ages with old school chops and warm wit. Now, with the release of her CD Groovin’ In The Garden, produced by Grammy-winning Dean Jones, she focuses on gardening – for the beauty of it, the family bonding of it, and the health of it. Story Laurie is part of the increasingly popular, health-conscious trend of keeping food local. “It can begin with fun and ease in the family yard,” she says. “Or even in a window planter.” With Story Laurie’s new program, kids – and parents – learn how the Earth can sustain us if we treat her right; by inserting themselves into the chain, families feel empowered.

Story Laurie enthralls kids by emerging from a tent pitched in the library itself. She’s been camping in the yard, she says, “listening to the wind blow, hearing the grass grow and the animals chatter.” What follows is a wild, improvisatory ride through the natural world, revealed in all its glory, power, and wonder. Kids learn how they can reconnect to the complex system of nature, how they can make a difference for themselves and the planet, and how they can even bring food to the family table!

Don’t miss this chance to enjoy rich tales, tunes, free seeds, and lessons in leaf from one of Upstate NY’s most celebrated performers!
