Delaware County Historical Association to Offer “Introduction to Basketry” Workshop, Saturday, March 16th - 1pm – 4pm

On Saturday March 16, 2013 the Delaware County Historical Association will offer an afternoon workshop on the basics of basketry. Adults and teens alike are encouraged to come learn the basics of basketry - no prior experience is necessary for participants.

The ever-useful Market Basket is a great project for the beginner weaver. It can be used to gather garden vegetables or can be taken to the market. Materials used are natural and dyed rattan with a solid oak handle. This class will introduce the twill technique (under 2 over two) of basic basket weaving. We will add color to make this a unique basket for each weaver. A brief history of basketry and examples of other techniques will also be discussed. This class is taught by master basket weaver, Martha Bremer. She has been teaching and weaving baskets regionally for the past 30 years.

Cost $55.00 per person, which includes a $30 materials fee.

Registration required by March 8th.
