The organizer of the Shandaken Art Studio Tour burst into the store this afternoon with his retired zookeeper sister from San Francisco in tow. He thrust a stack of Studio Tour brochures into my hand, and said "get ready for lot's of people, where should we put up the sign?" My partner Chelsea said "take down the GLSEN sign and put it up there where it was in the window." We all gave our ideas, and finally resolved to hang the sign between the hanging flower baskets which mark the front of the store. Richard Treitner's works were already covering two walls in preparation for Saturday's tour. Our visitors thought they were striking images. Chelsea found some twine, scissors were secured, and soon the sign was hanging in place above the portico sidewalk. It is clearly visible at 300 Main Street, next to the Post Office.
There are four artists showing their work in Pine Hill this year: Michael Boyer, Ralph Parsons, Richard Treitner, and works at the Pine Hill Community Center. A makeshift map which includes Treitner at Pine Hill Books is shown above. Treitner was originally planning to show with Tohkal a friend in Willow, but at the last minute this was not possible, and Treitner is showing at the bookstore instead. For information call 845-254-3344. The exhibit in the bookstore will be open from 10:00AM to 7:00PM on this Saturday and Sunday. Feel free to call for a viewing at another time if these hours are not convenient.
