Seeds available at the Community Seed Swap, March 17, Bushel, Delhi

Bring your open-pollinated, non-GMO, heirloom seeds and take home something new, unusual, and hardy to our region. Packets, label forms, and supplies will be provided. There will be plenty of extra seed that need to meet soil, so even if you don’t have seeds to swap, come by and pick up packets of seeds to put in the ground this season. And bring your gardening questions for a local farmer to answer. New this year: Ask-A-Farmer Advice Table, 11 am to 2 pm during the seed swap. Treadlight Farm and Berry Brook Farm will attend to your ornamental and vegetable garden questions.

“Seeds is not just the source of life,” remarks seed-saving advocate Vandana Shiva. “It is the very foundation of our being.” Shiva urges us to “do everything that it takes to protect and rejuvenate the seed.” And with this in mind, please come and participate in the seed swap to help protect our local plant diversity, improve our food security, and develop hardy, heirloom seeds for our region.
