This weekend: Santa Claus is coming to town

It's the weekend before Christmas, and all through the Catskills, there's a lot of holiday action going on: Main Street shopping, Santas on snowboards, and more. Here's a guide to what's going on in the region this weekend, starting tonight.

DELAWARE COUNTY

Ugly Sweater Party at the Shire Pub. Come in your best -- that is, worst -- holiday attire. Friday, 12/16, 9pm-midnight.

A Christmas Carol at the Open Eye Theater in Margaretville. Friday, 12/16 through Sunday, 12/18; Fri-Sat 7pm, Sun 3pm.

Wreaths of Roxbury Soup & Sip. Local shops and orgs vie for the coveted "Best Wreath" title -- you stroll around town, sipping on soup and wine, and be the judge. Saturday, 12/17, 5pm-7pm.

Stamford Holiday Pop-Up Market at the Delaware Inn. Crafts, local foods, and a visit from Santa. Saturday, 12/17, 10am-1pm.

Santa visits the Fleischmanns Gazebo. To be followed by awards for the best-decorated houses in town. Saturday, 12/17, 5-6pm.

Holiday Market at the Arkville Bread & Breakfast, featuring local arts and crafts. Through Christmas Eve. Noon-6pm. 

GREENE COUNTY

Christmas Film Festival at the Orpheum in Tannersville. All-day movie marathon, from Charlie Brown's Christmas through It's A Wonderful Life. Saturday, 12/17, noon-10pm.

Santa Day at Windham Mountain. Come in head-to-toe Santa gear, and get a free lift ticket for the day. Pre-register on Windham's website. Sunday, 12/18, 8-11am.

SCHOHARIE COUNTY

Winter Warm-Up: Live music with The Red Wagon at Green Wolf Brewing Co. in Middleburgh. Friday, 12/16, 7-10pm.

SULLIVAN COUNTY

Pint and Popcorn Night at the Roscoe Brewery, with a screening of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Friday, 12/16, 6pm.

Holiday Trains on Main, on display at the Catskill Arts Society in Livingston Manor. Through Dec. 31. Free card- and ornament-making workshop for kids on Saturday, 12/17, 1-4pm.

ULSTER COUNTY

Phoenicia Christmas Celebration Day. A downtown-wide day of festivities, with Main Street shops open late, a library open house, lunch at the Empire State Railway Museum, caroling with the Festival of the Voice, and a showing of Miracle On 34th Street at STS. Saturday, 12/17, all day.

Breakfast with Santa at the Emerson Resort & Spa. Call to make a reservation: 845-688-2828. Saturday, 12/17, 9am-12pm. 

Music at the Woodstock Library with musicians Julie Parisi Kirby, T.G. Vanini and Jude Roberts; later that evening, a jazz Christmas concert with Peter Einhorn, Veronica Nunn, Peter Swanson and George DeLeon. Saturday, 12/17, 5-9pm.
