Play Performance: Shakespeare's Richard III

Saturday, November 5, 2016 - 7:30pm

The Catskill Art Society presents a performance reading of the play Richard III by William Shakespeare, on Saturday, November 5 at 7:30pm and Sunday, November 6 at 2pm at the Laundry King.

Richard III is the Bard's classic tale of despotic ambition for power, perfectly timed for this year's historic election. This performance reading is conceived as a radio play, letting the story fuel the listener's imagination. Presented in an original condensed version from Theater in the Rough, Jerusalem. This reading will be recorded live for WJFF Radio Catskill and aired in November for election week.

Directed by Mimi McGurl. Performed by John Higgins, Cass Collins, Kyoshin Lohr, and Stacy Wakefield. Music and sound by Nick Forte.

The play runs approximately 2 hours with one intermission. Tickets are suggested donation $15 in advance, $20 at the door. $10 tickets are offered to students who book in advance.

Advance reservations are highly recommended. To reserve seats, email info@catskillartsociety.org or call 845-436-4227.

Presented as part of our “Year of Shakespeare” at CAS, a festival celebrating the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s life with a year-long slate of live performances, films, and discussions.

This program is funded in part by a Sullivan County Arts & Heritage grant, funded by the Sullivan County, NY legislature and administered by Delaware Valley Arts Alliance.
