Two fundraisers are being held this weekend to benefit Gerard and Lilly Breen, whose Delhi home was destroyed in a fire on February 3.

An email from Faiga Brussel, a friend of the Breens, gives us an update about how the elderly couple are doing:

The Breens are doing well. An apartment has been found which they think will suit them. This week-end there are two benefits in their honor: Saturday night, at the Shire Pub. Lots of great music and company. Sunday afternoon, beginning at 2pm, a spaghetti dinner at the Legion Hall. Local musicians will begin playing at 5pm.

Details about both events are below.

Breen Family Fundraiser, Saturday, February 15, 8:30 p.m. The Shire Pub, 123 Main St. Delhi.

50/50 Raffle, Raffle Auction and Donation Jug. Live music Hummel's Jug. Come down and support a couple that has given so much to the community over the years. The Breens have taken in the less fortunate to get them back on their feet and they help house college students. Hummel’s Jug formed in July of 2013 with the interest of melding Outlaw and Modern Country music with Rock. From Waylon Jennings and Brantley Gilbert to Jimi Hendrix and CCR, their focus is not based solely on recreating the music of all the great artists they respect and admire, but on writing music of their own.

Benefit for the Breens, Sunday, February 16, 2pm.  Delhi American Legion, 41 Page Ave., starting at 2pm. Spaghetti dinner begins at 5pm.

A benefit event to raise funds for Delhi’s Gerry and Lilly Breen will be held this Sunday, February 16, at the Delhi American Legion, 41 Page Ave, starting at 2pm.

The benefit will feature a spaghetti dinner prepared by Cross Roads Café owner, Pamela Guy, with dinner servings beginning at 5pm.

Donors to the cause will enjoy hours of live music, as well, as scores of local performers, and out-of-towners who grew up in Delhi, have offered their services for the event. Featured bands scheduled to perform on Sunday include Altered Walter (funk rock), Würd (classic rock), and Bluestone Country (classic country), with special appearances from the likes of Pam West, Matt Woodin (Esquela), Van VanArsdale, and many others. The event will include an open mic “all-star jam” mix of local/regional musicians performing some of their favorite standards together. Delhi-area musicians interested in performing on Sunday’s benefit can email CleanGreenMusic@gmail.com or message “Clean Green Music” on facebook. Live music will continue well into the evening.

Gerry and Lilly Breen suffered a devastating house fire on Feb 3. The beloved couple have been a cornerstone of the Delhi community for decades, and have given generously to help many people, in many ways, for a very long time. Sunday’s event at Delhi’s American Legion offers the community the opportunity to donate to help the Breens in a timely fashion. All monies received at Sunday’s event will go directly to Gerry and Lilly Breen.
