A six-mile stretch of Route 28 was closed to traffic late Monday night due to downed power lines on the road, according to an alert posted on 511-NY by the New York State Department of Transportation.
The alert stated that as of 10:58pm Monday, Route 28 was closed from the intersection with Route 10 (Delhi's Main Street) to Turnpike Road in Meredith, with downed power lines at both ends of the road. Intense thunderstorms moved quickly through the region Monday afternoon, leaving downed trees in some areas.
The road was expected to be closed until 7am Tuesday morning.
A segment of Route 28 near Broadstreet Hollow Road in Shandaken was also closed down on Monday between around 5:30pm and 7pm, due to a downed tree.
Update: Route 28 has been reopened.
