Route 17 under construction in Liberty

Two bridges carrying the exit and entrance ramps for westbound Route 17 in Liberty, at Exit 100, will be closed for an extensive $1 million construction project beginning Monday, March 25.

press release from Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office announcing the project stated that the ramps would be closed til the end of May. While the ramps are out of commission, traffic to the exit ramp at Exit 100 will be detoured to Exit 101 and Sullivan Avenue. Traffic to the entrance ramp will be detoured to Exit 99. There may also be lane closures during construction.

During construction, the decks and rails of both bridges will be replaced, in addition to other structural work. The $1 million project is part of a larger $19.8 million NY Works project to repair 19 bridges in Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Sullivan and Tioga counties. The work will be carried out by Economy Paving Co. Inc., a construction firm in Cortland.
