Margaretville Central School delays opening til September 13

From the Middletown Flood Recovery website:

Margaretville Central WILL NOT OPEN for students on Wednesday September 7th as previously scheduled. (Updated):

MCS will delay the opening of school to students until Tuesday September 13th

Faculty is to report on Monday September 12th at 8 am.

Due to recent weather-related safety concerns and the timeliness associated with the complete clean up of the school basement, MCS has adjusted the starting date for students and faculty.

Although the main school building is prepared to accepted faculty and students, the additional time will allow the professional restoration teams to complete the restoration process in the school basement. This restoration team will work multiple hour shifts removing sheet rock, debris, ceiling tile and water while cleansing the entire area with anti-microbial environmentally safe products, and dehumidification. These products deal with the potential of mold when applied. An air quality assessment will also be conducted once the work of restoration is complete.

MCS is working with local community organizations and local school districts to secure proper practice and playing fields in an effort to begin the fall season. Our hope is to begin our season as soon as possible and additional information will be forthcoming through Mr. Marks, Athletic Director.

Additional school related information will be updated on the MCS web site www.margaretvillecs.org the Middletown flood recovery community blog, facebook and the watershed blog.
