Intersection of Rte. 28A and Monument Road to be closed Sept. 13 to 15

This just in from Eric Kight, the project manager at the NYC Department of Environmental Protection: The intersection of Rte. 28A and Monument Road in Olive will be closed for three days in September to make way for construction. The next of the announcement is below:

Reconstruction of NYC Route 28A ~Town of Olive-Ashokan Reservoir

Construction work will necessitate a 3 day temporary closure of the public access area at the westerly end of the Olivebridge Dam located at the intersection of Route 28A and Monument Road (aka Five Pines area). The brief 3 day shutdown is scheduled for Tuesday September 13th through Thursday September 15th 2011 (Rain Date September 20th – 22nd). Public parking will remain available at the DEP public access area at the easterly end of the Middle Dike off of NYC Route 28A (aka Frying Pan area). All public walkways will remain accessible, except the far westerly end of the Olivebridge Dam. Thank you for your patience during this road improvement project.
