14-year-old disappears from Ulster County camp

3pm update: Moshe Dresdner, or Moishe Dressner, has been found in a Staten Island mall, according to The Catskill Scoop:

The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and Catskills Hatzalah have just cancelled the search for a missing 14-year-old Yeshiva Bochur who was attending Spinka Camp in Dairyland. The boy, a Brooklyn yeshiva student, was last seen at 10 p.m. Tuesday at the camp on Milk Road. he was found in the Staten island Mall, and is reportedly in healthy condition. Hundreds of volunteers from Hatzolah assisted police, who used K-9s, police helicopters, and volunteers.

The Times Herald-Record is reporting that searchers found the boy using a simple method: calling his family. From the THR: 

Local authorities were awaiting details from the New York City Police Department, but they said the boy was apparently found after placing a phone call to family members.

Original story: A 14-year-old boy went missing yesterday from a summer camp for Hasidic youth in Dairyland, on the border of Ulster County and Sullivan County, prompting an all-out search by Catskills Hatzalah and the Ulster County Sheriff's Office.

Different sources are giving out different information about the boy's name and the name of the summer camp. According to the Times Herald-Record and a press release from the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, the boy's name is Moishe Dressner, and he was attending Camp Beth Yitzochok.

According to Voz Iz Neias, the boy is Moshe Dresdner from Williamsburg, Brooklyn. VIN reports that the name of the camp is Spinka Camp. The site also has photos of the 100 searchers who have turned out to search for the boy today.

(According to the New York State Department of Health, there is a "Camp Beth Yitzchok Dspinka" in Ulster County..)

All outlets agree that Dresdner/Dressner was last seen late last night.

Adam Bosch at the Times Herald-Record did some digging on the story and reports that Sheriff's Office officials suspect that the boy might have gone to New York City:

Van Blarcum said police suspect the boy might have hitched a ride to New York City. They're checking with taxi and bus companies.

1pm update: The Ulster County Sheriff's Office just sent out an email which contained multiple changes from initial news reports. This post has been updated accordingly, and the full press release is below:

PRESS RELEASE FROM SHERIFF PAUL VANBLARCUM

The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into a report of a missing teenager from Camp Beth Yitzochok in the Town of Wawarsing, which is in the southwest corner of Ulster County. The missing youth is a Moishe Dressner, 14 years of age; he is about 5'10" and approximately 140 LBS with brown hair. Dressner was last seen Tuesday July 12 th at about 10:00 PM wearing black pants and shoes with a white shirt and a long black coat.

Camp Beth Yitzochok is a summer camp for Hasidic youth from the New York City area. Dressner resides in the Brooklyn.

The investigation to date involves searching the camp, and surrounding woods using police personnel, police K9s, police helicopters, and civilian volunteers. His residence in Brooklyn and other areas in the New York City area are being checked.

Assisting deputies with the investigation are the New York State Police Troop F, New York State Police Aviation, New York State Forest Rangers, Fallsburg Police Department, and the New York City Police Department.
