White stuff

Above, a photo of snow falling in Davenport, from reader Mike Wilkie, via Facebook: "About a 1/2 inch on the ground here in Davenport. It is really coming down now."

This is turning into quite a white-out. The National Weather Service office in Binghamton has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of the Catskills -- namely, Delaware and Sullivan counties -- from now until 1am tomorrow morning. (For the full advisory, scroll to the bottom of this post.)

There have also been some road closings this afternoon in Delaware County. Here's the list as we have it now:

  • State Highway 28 is closed between Dunraven and Andes due to multiple traffic incidents due to the weather. Via NY Alert. (Unofficially, we hear that a Trailways bus and several cars got into trouble at the top of Palmer Hill this afternoon.)
  • Rte. 23 between Stamford and Parker Schoolhouse Rd. was closed, but has now re-opened. Via NY Alert.

We're getting reports on our Facebook page about snow from around the region. Around 2:30pm, one reader reports, the ground in Fleischmanns was almost covered. At 3:07 in at the top of Running Horse Road in Denver, another reader reported a whopping 3 inches.

Also, we're getting some happy photos of snowy shenanignans. Here's a shot of Charley and Ava McIntosh playing in the snow this afternoon, taken by Sarah Mesh.

How many inches do you have near you? Got a photo? Tell us what you're seeing by commenting on this post, on our Facebook page, posting a photo to our Flickr page, or by sending an email to editor@watershedpost.com.
