Lawyer behind anti-mosque lawsuit hails from Stamford

A local boy named Brett Joshpe is one of the lawyers involved in challenging plans to build a mosque near Ground Zero in New York City. This week, the Mountain Eagle interviewed Joshpe, who graduated from high school in Stamford in 1998. In the past twelve years, Joshpe has become something of a conservative talking head -- in addition to his legal work, he's penned a book called "Why You're Wrong About the Right."

Here's why Joshpe thinks that blocking the mosque's construction is a good idea:

“I think it is incredibly insensitive, especially to those who lost loved ones on 9/11. Certainly not all Muslims are extremists or share the hateful ideology and disdain for America that radical Muslims hold, but, nonetheless, Sept. 11 was inspired by radical Islamic theology. Only someone completely intoxicated by political correctness would fail to acknowledge that and appreciate why this project might be hurtful and seen as an insult to many people,” Joshpe said.
