AT&T putting up a new cell tower on Delaware-Sullivan border

The new tower, according to a press release, will be located

along the Southern Tier Expressway between Cooks Falls and East Branch just above the Sullivan County border.

Thing is, it looks like there's already plenty of cell coverage in that area, if you use AT&T's online coverage tool, which I've used to measure the coverage around East Branch and Roscoe above. (Orange means good AT&T service; white means no service.)

According to the map, if you're an AT&T customer, you're already getting a few bars in this area, at least along the river. But scroll south or east, and there are giant blank white holes of no service.  In fact, that eastern service hole covers the town of Andes, which recently got Congressman Scott Murphy to call for a new cell tower there, apparently to no avail.
