We don't always bring one of the llamas in the kitchen, but sometimes, you just have to!
Hi,
Fresh All Grassfed Beef and Merguez (grassfed lamb sausage) in the cooler this weekend! All cuts of beef, including steaks for grilling, ground beef, and kebabs. Our hours for the store and cafe are 11am-3pm. There will be a farm tour Saturday at 11am. Let us know if you plan to enjoy a walk around the farm to see the variety of animals and our farming methods.
Supper Club
With the great abundance of fabulous local vegetables and fruits this time of year, we will be offering a vegetarian option at both the August and September Supper Club dinners. Dinner will be $65 per person for either the vegetarian or omnivore option, but you must specify which when you make your reservation. The menu will soon be up on our website. Dates are Saturday and Sunday, August 15 & 16, and September 26 & 27.
In October, we plan a special "Why A Duck?" All Poultry Supper Club. We have been raising duck, goose, guinea fowl, chicken and turkey, which will all work into this dinner. October 17 & 18, $75 per person.
And in November, you can "Eat Like A Pig." This Supper Club will feature three heritage breeds of pork that we raise, Ossabaw Island, Tamworth and Gloucester Old Spot. And the dishes will incorporate the things the pigs forage in the fields and forests where they are being raised. Fruits, nuts, herbs, and more. November 7, $75 per person.
Order Thanksgiving Turkeys
Time to reserve your T-day bird! Fresh and ready the weekend before Thanksgiving. Form and details attached.
As you are probably aware, the Midwest poultry industry has been hit hard by avian flu, and thousands and thousands of birds have been sacrificed to slow the spread. You can see the effect in jump in the egg prices in the supermarket. The small regional hatchery in Montgomery County where we usually buy our turkey poults unfortunately orders the turkey eggs from the midwest and all their supplies were canceled. Those poor folks are now out of business at least for the year. (I hope they can recover.) Luckily, with a recommendation from other farmer friends, we contacted a hatchery in Pennsylvania that breeds and hatches their own eggs, and was able to supply the turkey poults we wanted on schedule a couple weeks ago. Whew. Close call.
