After you run from the police, don't ask them to find your car

On Wednesday night on Lucas Turnpike in Accord, Ulster County Sheriff's Office deputies came upon a "suspicious vehicle in an area known for larcenies," according to a press release. When the Sheriff's Office patrol car began to approach the vehicle, it reportedly sped off, eventually leaving the road entirely on Daisy Lane in the town of Rochester. The four people inside reportedly escaped on foot, with one of them -- 22-year-old Nicholas J. Seaman -- getting caught by a deputy in a foot chase.

The other three got away, according to the police, but one of them, the 21-year-old man driving the car, wanted his car back. So the man, Kyle Sousa, allegedly called the authorities and reported that it had been stolen from the Accord Fire Department parking lot. He even reportedly signed a false written statement saying so.

Both Seaman and Sousa are getting a slew of misdemeanor tickets for their actions and will appear in court in Rochester on November 3.
